Three White & Case partners have exited the firm for Noerr as it launches an office in Hamburg.
The trio will open Noerr’s new office in the city, making it the firm’s sixth base in Germany.
Four partners from Noerr will also relocate to Hamburg, with plans to grow lawyer headcount to 20 by the summer.
The White & Case team is comprised of the firm’s German corporate co-head Volker Land, who will lead the office alongside relocated Noerr partner Christoph Spiering.
Land will be joined by White & Case colleagues Matthias Stupp and Kai-Michael Hingst, who focus on litigation and banking respectively.
Land joined White & Case in 2000 from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and was promoted to partner four years later.
Stupp meanwhile joined White & Case in 2004 and joined the partnership in 2013.
After the exits, White & Case will have nine partners in Hamburg, with four German offices in total.
Over the years, several firms have launched Hamburg bases via White & Case, with Görg adding five lawyers to its new base in 2012. Allen & Overy also took on three White & Case partners in 2001 to set up its Hamburg office.
