Clifford Chance has bolstered its New York insurance offering with the hire of two partners from Greenberg Traurig and Duane Morris.

Greenberg Traurig partner Joseph Cosentino left Clifford Chance in June 2015 but has re-joined its Americas corporate team to focus on public and private M&A, with significant emphasis in the insurance and private equity sectors.

Cosentino began his career in September 2000 with legacy US firm Dewey Ballantine and was made up to partner early in 2009 after the firm’s merger with LeBoeuf Lamb Green & MacRae. He previously spent three years at Clifford Chance before departing for Greenberg Traurig.

Meanwhile, corporate regulatory partner Alice Kane joins from Duane Morris to be a part of the firm’s insurance team.

Kane’s career began in 1972 serving as general counsel for New York life insurance, where she worked for 25 years. She went on to fill the same role with Zurich Insurance for over five years, afterwards joining legacy Dewey & LeBoeuf in 2011.

Clifford Chance’s LLP accounts last year show that its Americas offices had the biggest growth over 2015/16, with revenues climbing 12 per cent from £156m to £175m across its offices in New York, São Paulo and Washington DC.
